Reflections from May & June
What an incredible start to the season! May and June delivered unforgettable moments on the water. From crystal-clear rivers to serene lakes, the conditions were perfect—and the results spoke for themselves.
We had the absolute pleasure of guiding guests through some truly special experiences:
- First-ever wild brown trout catches
- Personal best rainbow and brown trout
- Breakthroughs in technique, confidence, and fish landed!
It’s always a joy to witness the transformation of a flyfisher—from tentative beginner to capable angler. Many guests arrived knowing just the basics and left applying advanced techniques used around the world. Whether it’s learning how to read the river or mastering a new casting style, the progress we’ve seen has been remarkable.
But beyond the fish, what stood out most was the fellowship. Around every bend of the river and over every shared cup of coffee, friendships were forged. There’s something deeply grounding about being outdoors, learning together, and sharing in those “first fish” moments—pure magic.
Saltwater clinics were a hit too! Flyfishing truly knows no bounds—lakes, rivers, estuaries or surf—there’s always another species to chase and another adventure waiting. We believe in making flyfishing as accessible and exciting as possible, no matter where you are.
On the fly-tying front, Fred’s Flies has been buzzing. From custom patterns to proven classics, it’s incredibly rewarding to see clients landing trophy fish on our handcrafted flies. We’re constantly evolving our designs—drawing inspiration from our time on the water to keep improving your chances of success.
Looking ahead to July and August, we’ll be diving into stillwaters, tiger fishing, river sessions and more saltwater action. We also have a few exciting projects in the pipeline—stay tuned!
